Robshaw back to challenge Wilson

- NIK SIMON

FORMER England captain Chris Robshaw has been challenged to ‘chase down’ Mark Wilson after being recalled by Eddie Jones. Robshaw has not played for his country since June last year, losing ground to blindside rivals Wilson and Brad Shields. The flanker returns ahead of Saturday’s clash with Italy — reviving his hopes of being involved at the World Cup later this year. The 32-year-old missed the autumn campaign to have knee surgery, but impressed Jones in Harlequins’ win over Bath on Saturday. ‘He offers valuable experience, he’s got 60-plus caps and we see him as adding to our squad,’ said assistant coach Neal Hatley. ‘Last weekend he made 28-30 tackles and got two turnovers. ‘We’re trying to create massive competition and use each other to squeeze the most out of that back-row position. What Wils (Mark Wilson) has done has been outstanding. We want to push each other to set standards the next bloke has to catch.’ Maro Itoje also returns to the 31-man training squad after injuring a knee in the victory over Ireland. Leicester prop Dan Cole and Bath centre Jonathan Joseph have been recalled, while winger Chris Ashton continues his rehab at Sale.
