TRAINING GROUND SHUT AS BOLTON RUN OUT OF FOOD

-

THE grave financial situation at Bolton Wanderers took another worrying turn yesterday when the club closed their training ground due to a lack of food, drink and supplies. Phil Parkinson’s team had the day off anyway but fringe players and staff were told to stay away. Bolton owner Ken Anderson (below) has put the club up for sale and suggested a takeover is close. However, no deal has materialised and staff have not been paid their February wages, which were due last Thursday. Bolton declined to comment. The Championship side are seven points adrift of safety following a 2-0 defeat at Swansea last weekend. Bolton are due to host Millwall on Saturday, and if they are unable to pay stewards and part-time staff, they will not meet the criteria set out in the stadium’s safety certificate to allow the game to go ahead. The club are due in court on March 20 to face a winding-up petition from HMRC. Greater Manchester Police also say they are owed money by Bolton ‘for matchday services’. FERRAN SORIANO has predicted Manchester City will purchase a club in India by the end of the year. City Football Group already have seven clubs in their stable, with the chief executive claiming he envisages another ‘two or three’ being added to complete their portfolio. ‘We’ve been looking at India for nearly two years now,’ Soriano said. ‘I’d say this year we’ll end up doing an investment in India. To complete the vision that we had six years ago, we will have maybe two or three clubs more.’
