Alexis sanchez fears he could miss up to two months after suffering knee ligament damage.

The Manchester United and Chile forward was forced off seven minutes into the second half of the 3-2 win over southampton on saturday after a collision with Jan Bednarek.

sanchez’s national teamm physio Pedro Onate told Chilean lo: newspaper El Mercurio: ‘We spoke to the player andd he had scans on the injury on sunday.

‘He will be available for the Copa America (which begins in June) but he will be unavailable to play for between six and eight weeks.

‘The medial ligament strainn is an annoying injury but notot such a complex one.’

sanchez’s absence iss another injury blow foror United manager Ole Gunnar solskjaer, who could be without up to 10 first-team players for tomorrow’s Champions league date with Paris saint-Germain.

Paul Pogba is suspended while Juan Mata, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Jesse lingard and Matteo Darmian are all injured.

Phil Jones has been unwell and Anthony Martial is unlikely to be risked.

sanchez has struggled for form at United, with only two goals since April.

Chile boss Reinaldo Rueda said: ‘For sure it’s very worrying. These are situations that happen in football.

‘We hope he overcomes this very quickly because he has all the quality, a track record, experience and quality to assert himself. i hope we can enjoy the Alexis we all knew again.’

Despite United’s lengthy injury list and 2-0 first-leg deficit, Ashley Young believes their ‘never-say-die’ spirit can carry them to an historic victory in Paris tomorrow.

No team has progressed in the knockout stage of the Champions league after losing the first leg at home by two goals or more.

But United recovered from a goal down twice to beat southampton and Young believes that can give them the confidence to pull off a far greater comeback.

‘ it just shows the team spirit we’ve got and the desire to get back into games,’ said the United captain. ‘i think we showed that we’ve got that resilience to keep going rightri to the final whistle.

‘That’s the club’s way, the UnitedU way. Never say die.’ lookingl ahead to PsG, Young added: ‘ We know what we’re capable of. People were writing us off at the start of the season and peoplep are writing us off now. ObviouslyO it’s going to be tough. We’ve got to go over there,th win the game and score goals.g i’ve got every faith that if we defend well and create chances,c we can win.

‘We can’t worry too much about Paris saint-Germain, it’s all about us.’

Young will lead out an unfamiliar United side due to the mass of injuries.

‘We’ve had that for the last couple of games,’ said Young. ‘There have been players who have been missing and it’s not ideal.

‘ There are players who are ready to come in and fill their boots. everyone has got to be ready.

‘it’s been tough. it’s never easy when you’ve got so many injuries, but it shows the squad that we’ve got here. There are other people carrying knocks but we’re getting through games. That’s just how the team spirit is.’
