Is MP David Lammy right

CRITICISING Strictly star Stacey Dooley after she posted a picture of herself cradling a child while filming for Comic Relief in Uganda, MP David Lammy tweeted: ‘The world does not need any more white saviours.’ Let’s have a debate about foreign aid sent to Africa that never reaches its destination, but is siphoned off by corrupt officials.

STEPHEN SHAW, Leicester. DAvID LAMMY is right. Stacey Dooley is but a small part of this problem. I have lived and worked in Nigeria, tanzania and uganda. Well-intentioned folk from the West who arrive with high-tech gadgets are unknowingly bringing distress and upset to Africa. Charities construct a communal water tap or open an english language school. the water taps are left with no planned maintenance and all that teaching english does is enable folk to envy Western lifestyles. they need trading and agricultural skills.
