Man killed after being chased and stabbed 6 times

-

A MAN was killed and a girl taken to hospital yesterday as they became the latest victims of Britain’s knife crimewave.

The girl, 14, was said to have been chased by up to 15 other teenagers before being attacked with scissors in Coventry.

Witnesses claimed she was kicked by the mob before one of them stabbed her.

In east London a man was stabbed to death, just yards from a flat locals said he shared with his mother and sister. The unemployed man was reportedly chased along a road close to his flat in Leyton then stabbed six times. The incidents are the latest in a spate of knife crimes dubbed a ‘national emergency’.

Witnesses to the stabbing of the 14-year-old in Coventry claimed a mood of panic took over after she was attacked.

One resident said: ‘There were around 15 kids all on this one girl. They were kicking her before one stabbed her.

‘She had injuries to her neck and hand. People were panicking because there was so much blood coming from her neck.’ The girl was taken to hospital for treatment to a two-inch gash to her neck. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The attack took place just a road away from where a 27year-old was knifed to death last year. Police last night confirmed a girl, 16, was arrested on suspicion of wounding.

West Midlands Police said: ‘She was attacked with some form of weapon but we don’t know if it was scissors. It appears to have been a fight between schoolgirls who were known to each other.’
