Taste The Difference Fairtrade Carmenere 2018, £7 (normally £9), Sainsbury’s GET involved with Fairtrade Fortnight with this brilliant berry-fruit packed red from Chile. The money from Fairtrade sales has helped support children of the vineyard workers to go to university.

WHITE WINE

Landscape Grenache Blanc 2017, £8.99, Ocado GRENACHE is a red grape but it comes in white too. Here, it’s the star performer in a new range of wines from the Western Cape in South Africa, full of bright white peach and pear fruit flavours.

FOOD PAIRING: Vegetable tagine.

RED WINE

Fleurie AOC Beaujolais Henry Fessy, £13.49, Waitrose THERE was a time when Beaujolais meant Nouveau to most of us but producers of the smarter ‘Cru’ Beaujolais are now on a roll. This one’s from Fleurie with juicy red fruits and soft velvety tannins.

FOOD PAIRING: Spicy pork.

SPARKLING WINE

Lot Folletto D’Oro Prosecco, £9.99, Aldi THIS Prosecco from Aldi’s Lot series of wines is worth a try. Made from vineyards in the hilly Valdobbiadene region of Italy, its frothy bubbles have a floral character.

FOOD PAIRING: Crab linguine.
