Living in fear
FORGET Brexit and hours of wasted debate. There is only one issue that dominates all of our lives — the huge rise in violent crime.
Family life torn apart, elderly people living in fear. What is happening to our country? We need urgent action to tackle knife crime. Let parliament speak as one for once and eradicate this threat to all our lives.

WE HAVE become a country adept at leaving floral tributes, carrying out candlelit vigils and giving tearful interviews to TV news channels.
These acts are all very moving and undoubtedly harrowing for those involved, but they don’t resolve the problem.
The fact the home Secretary states that this knife culture needs to stop will not resolve the problem.
Creating yet another overpaid management role and calling it a Knife Tsar, as has been suggested by former Met police chief Lord hoganhowe, will not resolve the problem.
Action is needed to deter people from carrying knives. We need more police on the streets with the power to stop and search. Crime will continue to increase until those in power start taking action.
