Ghosn out on bail
DRESSED in overalls and wearing a mask and a cap, ousted Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn was released on bail after 108 days in a Tokyo jail.
The father-of-four, once one of the most powerful men in the car industry, faces trial over allegations he misused company funds and understated his earnings. But his application for bail, at a cost of £6.8m, means he will be out for his 65th birthday on Saturday.
In a statement, he said: ‘I am innocent and totally committed to vigorously defending myself in a fair trial against meritless and unsubstantiated accusations.’
