MIRACLE IN PARIS
Sir Alex Ferguson joined the celebrations in the dressing room after Manchester United reached the Champions League quarter-finals with a sensational stoppage-time win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Marcus rashford’s penalty, awarded after a video review, completed a stunning away-goals triumph. United were leading 2-1 on the night after a romelu Lukaku brace but still needed another goal to go through.
They were awarded a controversial spot kick when Presnel Kimpembe was deemed to have handled Diogo Dalot’s shot at the death — and rashford kept his nerve to score with his first penalty for United.
The victory sparked wild scenes on the pitch with interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer mobbed by his players.
Solskjaer said: ‘it’s this club, it’s what we do, that’s Man United. Last year it was real and Juventus, there’s been PSG and Barca too. The belief of the boys is what we hoped for, you always know it is possible.’
Asked if he will get the job fulltime, Solskjaer added: ‘We don’t chat now, it’s too noisy and there’s a great atmosphere. in the summer, we will see what happens.’
