Mariella’s phoney war with her kids

HUSKY-VOICED broadcaster Mariella Frostrup (right), who has two teenage children with her husband, lawyer Jason McCue, admits she rules with an iron fist at home.

‘I’m very strict with [my children’s] use of social media. I’m a nightmare,’ she tells me at the launch of her book, Wild Women, at The Academy Hotel in Bloomsbury. ‘I enforce bans at the weekend and I’m constantly taking their phones from them. We’re always arguing about it.’

The rules don’t just apply to Molly, 14, and 13-year-old Dan, however. ‘I don’t care what age you are — we never have phones at the dinner table. It’s uncivilised.’
