No Brexit bonus

ACCORDING to City Editor Alex Brummer, the increase in funds being invested in the UK is a sign that foreign businesses are confident in our economy.

He suggests this indicates they have a positive view about Brexit. Or is it that stocks in the UK are attractive because of the uncertainty that Brexit has caused? Such investors are likely to extract their funds the moment they have realised a profit.

The investment is in the City rather than industry and manufacturing. We do not hear of foreign companies queuing to move to Britain to take advantage of the potential bounty of Brexit. Instead, more than 250 firms are planning to move from the UK.
