Soaps all washed up

MY WIFE is addicted to the soaps, especially Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

But every time that these programmes are on, I keep imagining Winston Churchill’s voice saying: ‘Never in the advent of television has so much pain, misery, anguish and stupidity been inflicted on so many by so few.’

Now, what did I do with my trusty pencil, crossword and earplugs?
