Core blimey! It’s bubblegum-flavour apples
THE idea might make you choke, but bubblegum-flavoured apples could soon be launched in supermarkets as part of a drive to get children to eat more fruit and vegetables
Normal fruits will be coated in the flavour, which also prolongs their shelf-life. It is the idea of an American company which also flavours foods with vanilla, toffee, blackcurrant and cinnamon.
AgriCoat NatureSeal unveiled its plans at a trade show in London last week. It comes as recent figures show just just 18 per cent of children aged five to 15 eat the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.
AgriCoat said: ‘We aim to create a unique product which will add variety and choice to healthy eating decisions.’
