Raider meets banker

-

THE corporate raider who has demanded a seat on the board of Barclays is meeting its chief executive Jes Staley in new York. Edward Bramson is expected to set out further demands ahead of a shareholder vote on whether to give him a non- executive director job. The 68-yearold controls a 5.51pc stake in Barclays through his fund Sherborne Investors. It is thought he wants huge cutbacks at Barclays’ investment bank, which is at the heart of Staley’s strategy.

They have met several times but the Barclays’ boss said Bramson has still not outlined what he would do if he is given a seat.

last month Bramson’s bid for a board job was rejected by Aviva Investors.
