20 years after she gave young sports star a signed picture, J-Lo’s engaged to him
MOST young men can only daydream about marrying the person pouting from their favourite pin-up.
Not so for baseball star Alex Rodriguez, who is set to wed Jennifer Lopez – after holding on to a signed poster of the singer for 20 years.
The former New York Yankees player, now worth £230million, was just 23 when he approached the pop sensation and asked her for a signed photograph.
And now, after dating for two years, the couple have shared a very different snap – of Miss Lopez’s huge diamond engagement ring.
Experts predict the ring – believed to be a ten-carat diamond in a platinum solitaire setting – would have set him back around $1million (£768,000). ‘She said yes,’ Rodriguez, 43, wrote on Instagram yesterday, while Miss Lopez, 49, captioned the image with love hearts.
In October, Rodriguez had shared the signed picture on social media, writing: ‘Almost 20 years ago when a big time global pop superstar signed a pic for a young ball player #lifecanbeafunnythingsometimes.’
He might be hoping it serves as a good omen – given his fiancée already has three husbands behind her. Miss Lopez was previously engaged to actor Ben Affleck and has been married to dancer Cris Judd, actor Ojani Noa and singer Marc Anthony.
And her latest rock is far from the priciest – Anthony, to whom she was married for ten years, gave her a blue diamond ring reportedly worth £2.3million.
