Jones: Fans will be nice, we’ll be nasty

- CHRIS FOY

ENGLAND are fired up for a revenge mission against Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday. Eddie Jones and his squad may have the title to play for when the Calcutta Cup match kicks off, but even if Wales have already claimed a Grand Slam to dash their hopes, there will be no shortage of motivation. When the neighbours collided at Murrayfield last February, there was antagonism from the Scots before kick-off and triumphalism after they beat the ‘auld enemy’, so the English and their Australian head coach want payback. ‘Every game against Scotland has extra on it,’ said Jones. ‘I think they have a healthy dislike of the English and we would certainly like to reciprocate the welcome we got up there last year.’ Jones doesn’t expect the notoriously polite Twickenham crowd to match the aggression directed at his team at Murrayfield. ‘It’s nice, isn’t it?’ he said of the national stadium. ‘It’s all leather patches and brogue shoes. You don’t get people telling you where to go, you don’t get people spitting on you, you don’t get people grabbing you round the head. ‘So we’ll make sure the hostility is on the field. We saw how they carried on last year after they beat us. I remember everything that was said.’
