- By Josh White

A BOY accused of murdering Jodie Ches- ney sobbed and dabbed his face with a tissue as he appeared in court yesterday.

The 16-year-old wept throughout the brief hearing as he was flanked by two custody officers and a support worker.

Jodie, 17, died after being stabbed on March 1 as she listened to music with friends in a park in east London.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, wore a grey Puma hoodie and had his right arm in a cast.

He spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. Greg Nottage, chairman of the bench at Barkingside Magistrates Court, Ilford, Essex, told the boy that he would be remanded in custody and appear at the Old Bailey today.

Yesterday Manuel Petrovic, 20, of east London, appeared at the Old Bailey also charged with Jodie’s murder. The Croatian was remanded in custody until May 28.

A BOY of 13 was yesterday stabbed near Shawlands Academy, Glasgow, in the constituency of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy.
