The Clog fathers

-

SHOULD we all have to pop our clogs at 80? Car insurance companies won’t insure us. The BBC wants to take away out licence. The council wants to cancel our bus pass. The Government wants to stop our heating allowance. The younger generation have no respect for us.

The MPs that we voted for ignore us and follow their own agenda. The state will eventually take my home in payment for care homes fees. The NHS might not resuscitate us if we fall ill.

One day, the people who are trying to deprive us in our old age are going to be 80. They might them realise what they have done.

LESLIE CLEMENTs, Reading, Berks.

IF ONLY we all get our pension at 65 (Mail). Last week was my 65th birthday, but I will have to wait

another six months before I receive my pension.

If I had been born a day earlier, I would have received my pension on my birthday, but because I was born two hours into the following day, I will lose around £4,000. I know there has to be a cut-off date, so I am stoic about it. The fact is my losses are much smaller than any woman born at the same time as me.

One old schoolfriend tells me her losses will be around £17,000 because she missed out on getting her pension at 60. BRIAN COLLINS, Mold, Flintshire.
