Was Prince Harry right to praise the young at the expense of the old?

-

LIKE Mail columnist Stephen Glover, I take offence at Prince Harry’s speech to schoolchildren to mark WE Day, which encourages young people to take part in social change. He should not have pitted the generations against each other by saying young people are the ‘most engaged generation in history’ while older people are judgemental and incapable of thinking outside the box. My father cared enough to fight in two world wars and brought us up with the old-fashioned values of loyalty, hard work and courtesy. I feel Prince Harry has been disrespectful to those to whom this country owes so much.

FOR heaven’s sake, leave Prince Harry and Meghan alone. They have lived life in their respective careers and are entitled to express their opinions. GEOFFREY YATES, Windermere, Cumbria. OH, MEGHAN! Please can we have our old Harry back? Enough of putting words into his mouth with speeches that sound so odd coming from him. People would take more notice had he spoken straight from the heart. MRS E. HAWORTH, Blackburn, Lancs.

I WAS disappointed with the coverage of Prince Harry’s speech at WE Day. I am a teacher who took primary school children to WE Day events. The children enjoyed the entertainment, but overall, they felt empowered to change things. BARBARA COMLEY, address supplied.

OH, HARRY! Your speech has alienated a huge proportion of the public, many of whom have loved you since you were born. You need to stop listening to your wife before you speak. MARY WILLIAMS, Portskewett, Monmouthshire. MAIL columnist Stephen Glover got it right: New age nonsense spoken by someone brought up in a golden bubble. J. BALMFORTH, Fleetwood, Lancs.

‘HE used to be such fun before she came along. Love does strange things to people’.
