WHEN I was told I had breast cancer, I went straight to Ladies’ Day at my golf club.

During the prize-giving, I asked for the microphone and told everyone: ‘At 9am, I was told I had cancer, so for goodness sake, everyone, get checked!’

In the two years since then, I have been told by many women that this spurred them into having a check-up. For me, it’s so far, so good. SHIRLEY HARRIES,
