Tesla to hike prices

TESLA has changed its mind over a plan to shut showrooms – and will instead raise vehicle prices.

The electric car maker’s decision comes less than two weeks after it said it would shift all sales online to save money, allowing it to make price cuts.

But Tesla says it has now decided to keep far more showrooms open than intended.

Because of this, it plans to hike car prices by 3pc on average – adding around £2,000 to the cost of a standard Model S in the UK, which starts at £70,578.

A company blog post said Tesla will continue to ‘evaluate’ the sites.
