Did shamed MP wear tag to vote?
DISGRACED MP Fiona Onasanya was last night believed to be the first politician to vote in the Commons while wearing an electronic tag.
The 35-year-old MP for Peterborough, who is now an independent having been expelled by Labour, returned to Westminster to vote against Theresa May’s Brexit deal after being released early from prison.
Onasanya, a trained solicitor, was sentenced to three months’ jail in January for perverting the course of justice after repeatedly lying to police about a speeding offence.
She was released early from HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, having served just 28 days. She agreed to a curfew and electronic tag.
The Labour Party has implored the one-time Jeremy Corbyn ally to quit her seat following her conviction. She has refused, leaving taxpayers with a £500,000 bill to fund a recall petition which would force the constituency to hold a by-election.
