What’s happened?

The Civil Aviation Authority has banned all Boeing 737 Max aircraft from landing or departing in Britain, or flying through UK airspace. Many nations have done the same.

Will this affect me?

It is most likely to if you booked a flight with TUI or Norwegian. Check with the airline if you are due to fly on a Boeing 737 Max.

Will my flight be axed?

Norwegian does not have enough replacement planes and warned of ‘temporary delays and cancellations’. TUI predicts a ‘small number of short delays’ and said customers will ‘travel as planned on other aircraft’.

What are my rights?

Those whose flights are axed are unlikely to be compensated if airlines cite ‘extraordinary circumstances’. But they may be entitled to a refund or rerouting and meals, refreshments, hotel accommodation or transfers.

When will the ban end?

The US has told Boeing to install a software fix by April, which could satisfy safety authorities.
