Model: I get death threats over my monobrow
SOPHIA Hadjipanteli has the striking looks you would expect of a model – but it’s her jet-black monobrow that really makes her stand out.
The 22-year-old’s natural look has made her an internet sensation – with almost 300,000 followers on Instagram as the self-styled leader of the ‘unibrow movement’.
But not everyone approves and Cypriot-born Miss Hadjipanteli claims she has received online death threats over the unplucked brow, which she has nicknamed ‘Veronika’.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain yesterday, she said: ‘I definitely get a lot of negative reactions.
‘A lot of the negativity I get is from online, mostly, and in person people are just a bit unsure of how to take it because it’s kind of odd to see someone that looks like me. I get a lot of death threats.’
Miss Hadjipanteli, who has lived in London and the US, stumbled on her look when she accidentally dyed her brows black in 2014. Now the natural blonde has ditched the tweezers and made a career out of her unusual feature.
Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan defended Miss Hadjipanteli. He said he found her unibrow ‘weirdly beguiling’ in the flesh, and told her: ‘I’m feeling it, I’m feeling the monobrow.’ He said it was ‘absolutely disgusting’ that people would want to kill her just because of her looks, while co- host Susanna Reid urged critics to ‘get over themselves’.
