THE 200-JAB REJUVENATOR

-

ANOTHER form of injectable hyaluronic acid gel is Volite, which comes from facial- filler firm Juvederm. It says the product doesn’t just hydrate the skin, but conditions it, too.

One attraction of Volite is that it’s a one-off treatment. A single appointment, and you’re good for nine months of smoother, plumper skin. That said, it requires hundreds of tiny injections to place the product into mid-layers of the dermis.

WHAT IS IT? Volite is a runny form of hyaluronic acid gel, which is injected all over the face ( 00 injections in all). Once beneath the surface of the skin, the gel holds on to moisture, and over the following two months will soften and plump up the skin and improve its texture and elasticity.

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE: I have anaesthetic cream on for 0 minutes beforehand, which numbs my face, writes journalist and tester Sharon Walker. The injections aren’t too painful, but there are a lot of them, and I appreciate the way Dr Vicky Dondos changes the needle so it is always very sharp. It takes about an hour. Afterwards, there’s no puffiness, just tiny red dots from the injections. Yes, I feel a bit like a pin cushion, but have only one or two tiny bruises.

PAIN LEVEL: 5, but bearable with the anaesthetic cream VERDICT: I start to see the results after a month. The fine lines on my upper lip have softened signifiy cantly, and so have my crow’s feet, which go on improving during the second month. I know it is working when I run out of moisturiser — and realise I don’t really need any. My skin is softer and more radiant.
