4 in 10 young women would freeze eggs

-

MORE than four out of ten women aged 18 to 24 would consider freezing their eggs in the future, research suggests.

A poll of 1,002 women found 44 per cent would be willing to do so to preserve their fertility. Around 11 per cent of all age groups have frozen their eggs or considered it.

The statistics reflect growing concern as more women delay childbirth until later in life.

The survey for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists found 49 per cent of women have worried about their fertility, with a quarter of 18 to 24-year-olds expressing concern.

Professor Lesley Regan, of the Royal College, said: ‘This data echoes what we have been hearing from women and patients for many years.’
