Price war hurts funeral provider
FUNERAL provider Dignity’s profits have plunged after it was dragged into a brutal price war.
It had to cut the cost of its basic packages, causing its average income per funeral to fall from £3,222 to £2,973 in the year to December 28.
That saw Dignity’s profits plummet 43pc to £40.5m, with sales falling 3pc to £315.6m.
It is also battling to make cost savings after announcing the closure of dozens of branches last autumn.
