COCAINE JOCKEY FACES LONG BAN
FLAT jockey Callum Rodriguez faces a six-month suspension after failing a drugs test for what is understood to have been cocaine.
The 21-year-old Ebor winner, based with trainer Michael dods, had been enjoying a good season, with 12 winners from 64 rides.
But a sample taken on February 27 at Southwell — where he finished unplaced on both his rides — tested positive for a banned substance. The BHA have suspended him while an investigation continues.
‘My one-off action was completely out of character and one that I deeply regret,’ Rodriguez said in a statement. ‘I would like to sincerely apologise to all the owners and trainers I have ridden for, as well as my fellow jockeys.’
