- By PETE JENSON

PHILIPPE Coutinho scored his first Champions league goal at the nou Camp but it was lionel Messi who made the difference here. the Argentine’s two goals and two assists ensured Barcelona eased into the quarter-finals. they were given a scare when lucas tousart scored for lyon on 58 minutes but the familiar sight of Messi swerving one way as defenders fell to the turf in the other soon restored order. ‘When he’s at his best, he is almost impossible to stop,’ said lyon coach Bruno Genesio. Messi scored the first with a Panenka-style penalty on 17 minutes after luis Suarez had been brought down by Jason Denayer. Coutinho hit the second when he was selflessly played in by Suarez. lyon gave themselves a chance as tousart shot past Marc Andre ter Stegen but Messi killed their hopes with 12 minutes left. ivan Rakitic played him in and he left Denayer and Marcelo on the deck before rolling the ball in off a post. Pique made it 4-1 after Messi had picked him out. And the captain set up ousmane Dembele for the fifth with another run and perfectly weighted pass.
