Club broke promises, says ‘gutted’ Scholes

PAUL SCHOLES sensationa­lly quit as manager of League Two side Oldham last night after just 31 days in charge.

The Manchester United legend resigned following a series of broken promises from owner Abdallah Lemsagam.

Sportsmail revealed in January that Scholes had warned Lemsagam any interferen­ce in first- team activities would result in his departure.

The 44-year- old made good on that yesterday when he walked out on his boyhood club amid serious problems with the board.

A guarantee of no intrusion in team matters was written into his contract.
