The collagen-boosting LED light device you can also use for arthritis

-

WHAT IS IT? The Photizo Blush began life as a veterinary device — or rather, it is a toned-down version of something simply called a Photizo, which is used to ease arthritis in animals. As the company told me, you don’t need as heavy a dose of light to stimulate repair in human skin as you do to encourage healing in the dense muscle of a horse’s hindquarters. The gadget looks like a slimline shower-head and dispenses red and near infra-red light at the same time.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO USE: Blissfully easy. You press the button, and the head of the device lights up. Then you place it in the chosen spot

on your face. After 16 seconds, it beeps and turns off. You move it to a new spot, press the button again, and so on. That’s it. The manufacturer says it is safe to use all around the eyes and even on the eyelids and lips. VERDICT: I really like this device, because it is so simple to use, and because the light it delivers will definitely do your skin good if — as with all these beauty devices — you can just commit to using it enough.

Because the original, veterinary model is designed for arthritis, I’m experimenting with this on a finger joint which is showing early signs of swelling and stiffening, and have been advised to give it six cycles of light every day. At the time of going to press, this is helping my sore finger greatly.
