Pep: City can cope with transfer ban
PEP GUARDIOLA believes manchester City are strong enough to cope with a transfer ban.
FIFa are investigating the Premier league champions over transfers of youngsters and whether the club have breached the rules.
Chelsea were slapped with a two-window suspension last month and City are thought to be in line for a similar punishment.
‘the squad is really good,’ said Guardiola. ‘I answered lots of questions about that last week. I’m only concerned about what I have to do in my job.’
Pressed if City could cope without the ability to sign players, Guardiola replied: ‘Of course.’ City go to Swansea for an Fa Cup quarterfinal today without Vincent Kompany, John Stones, Fernandinho and Kevin de Bruyne. Stones has been called up for england but Guardiola suggested he will not link up with Gareth Southgate’s squad.
‘John Stones was on the bench (against Schalke) but is not ready to play — not today, not tomorrow,’ he said. ‘He’s still recovering and won’t play for the national team.’
