Police hope to access tragic Molly’s phone

-

POLICE believe they will be able to tap into data on devices used by Molly Russell, the 14-yearold who took her own life after viewing disturbing material online, a coroner has heard.

Letters of request were due to be sent to media firms asking for help but before this happened police said they may be able to make a breakthrough.

Jessica Elliott, representing the Russell family, told a preinquest review at Barnet Coroner’s Court: ‘The police now think it is highly likely that they can access some of the data on Molly’s devices.’

Molly, from Harrow, northwest London, was found to have viewed social media content linked to anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicide before ending her life in November 2017. It is believed that investigators are trying to unlock an iPhone and an iPod touch.

Regarding the full inquest, Miss Elliott said ‘everything rather hangs on the inquiries that the police are making’.
