‘A generic drug — in this case, loratadine — contains the same active ingredients and will be equivalent to the brand-name product in dosage, strength and route of administration.

‘When buying your medication over-thecounter, it is always worth asking your pharmacist if there is a cheaper equivalent generic product available.’
