Whooping mad

-

HOW I agree with Michael Brooks’s (Letters) comments on the persistent whooping and squealing that seems the norm on most TV shows.

I attended a live Strictly Come Dancing performance and the audience certainly didn’t seem to make as much noise as is heard when watching on TV.

I love the idea of Dancing On Ice, being a great fan of Jayne Torvill and Chris Dean, but I have never watched more than 15 minutes or so of this TV show because the constant whooping while the dancing is taking place is so annoying and detracts from any enjoyment.

The show’s presenters, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, have to shout over the racket.

The audience at home and around the rink should be allowed to hear the music and the contestants be allowed to concentrate on their moves in relative peace.

Surely occasional spontaneous applause to show appreciation of a particularly good move would be far more valuable.
