EasyJet axes Alitalia bid
EASYJET has walked away from plans to join forces with two other businesses to make a bid for bankrupt Italian airline Alitalia.
The budget airline said it will not pursue a deal with state-controlled railway Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Delta Air Lines.
The Italian government is hunting for a buyer for Alitalia after it was placed into special administration in 2017.
Last month EasyJet revealed it was considering making another offer with the other two companies.
A spokesman for EasyJet said after discussions it had taken the decision to ‘withdraw from the process’.
