MOSS BROS NAMES JOULES BOSS AS CHAIRMAN

-

STRUGGLING Moss Bros has appointed Joules boss Colin Porter as chairman.

Porter has taken over from Debbie Hewitt, 55, as she leaves after almost a decade at the menswear firm.

The 57-year-old’s appointment comes as Moss Bros battles to turn around the business following three profit warnings in 2018.

The share price has dived by 60pc over the past year.

In contrast, family fashion chain Joules has enjoyed growing sales in recent months as its polka-dot wellies and brightly coloured raincoats fly off the shelves. Moss Bros was founded in 1851 by Moses Moss with two shops in Covent Garden. The firm went on to supply British soldiers with uniforms during World War One and eventually started selling readyto-wear suits on the High Street.

Shares were up 2.6pc, or 0.6p, at 24.1p last night.
