Travelodge expands

-

TRAVELODGE is opening 100 hotels over the next five years in a boost for Britain after Brexit.

The plans come as the group posted an 8.8pc jump in sales to £693.3m in the year to December 31, compared with a year earlier.

The expansion plans are expected to create around 3,000 jobs. Travelodge has 575 hotels in the UK, Ireland and Spain and employs around 10,000 staff.

Profits jumped by £9.6m to £122m and revenue per available room also climbed 3.2pc to £41.69. Its average room rate is £ 53.09, 4p cheaper than a year earlier.

Peter Gowers, chief executive, said: ‘We’ve invested in better quality and choice for our guests, while staying true to our budget roots.’
