Shoppers’ Brexit jitters

-

FAMILIES are holding off from spending on cars, holidays and other major purchases as Brexit uncertainty bites, a survey found. Consumers are more worried about their financial wellbeing than at any point in the past 13 months, according to the study by research group IHS Markit.

It is thought there are worries the economy could suffer from political turmoil ahead of our departure from the European Union.

In turn, shoppers have delayed big purchases until there is more certainty, the study found.

However, in a better sign, jitters over job security fell to a three-month low.
