Wigan baffled by Edwards

-

WIGAN WARRIORS are demanding Shaun Edwards clarify his comments that seemed to rule out his proposed cross-code switch to the rugby league club. Edwards will leave his post as Wales defence coach after the World Cup and had agreed in principle to move back to former club Wigan, where he spent 14 successful years as a player. However, he revealed over the weekend he is yet to sign a contract at Wigan and that he is unemployed once he has fulfilled his Wales duties. Edwards’s comments came after Wales sealed a third Grand Slam triumph in 12 years, which saw the decorated 52-year-old collect his 50th career winners’ medal as a player and coach. His remarks seem to have come as a surprise to Wigan. A club statement read: ‘Following the conclusion of the Six Nations and Shaun’s comments, we have been seeking dialogue with Shaun directly since Sunday to clarify to Wigan his intentions.’
