Bogus claim rise

INSURANCE fraud is on the up, with the number of false claims rising by 27 pc in a year.

Bogus home insurance claims increased by 52 pc between 2017 and 2018, according to figures by fraud prevention service Cifas. Those aged between 31 and 40 were most likely to commit this type of fraud.

Meanwhile, fraudulent car cover claims went up by 45 pc, with 21 to 30-year- olds accounting for the most of this type of fake claim.
