WATER WATER EVERYWHERE

I’d like to go out, but it’s raining again, The water is up to the door. If it doesn’t stop soon, we’ll be swimming about All over the living room floor. We are all holed up in the cold and the damp, And the dog needs to go to the park. If it doesn’t stop soon, we’ll be searching the house For material to build us an ark. It’s not only the rain, but it’s windy, too, And some trees have been blown to the ground. Our garden gate has landed next door And the fence is just floating around. There’s also been lightning and thunder What else can the weather now bring? Is it too much to ask for some sunshine To remind us it’s officially spring? Janet Byrne, Harrow, Middlesex.
