Did Emily deserve a dressing down?

-

eMILY o’Connor’s arrogance is breathtaking. she complained that a thomas Cook flight crew shamed her by insisting she wore a jacket over her crop top, which looked more like a bra, on a flight from Birmingham to tenerife (Mail). she banked on most people on the flight being typically British and not wanting to get involved, then moaned when it didn’t go her way. she is a typical self-entitled millennial who believes that just because you are told to do something doesn’t mean you have to or that it’s right. When she leaves university, she will discover that in order to fit into the working environment, a lot of us have to do things we don’t like. I’m amazed that thomas Cook felt the need to apologise after this incident. It should make its policy less ambiguous: no beachwear on flights.

Ms O. ROBERTS, Cardiff. CrItICIsM of the outfit emily o’Connor chose to wear on her flight misses the real offence and disrespect she showed her fellow travellers. It’s unhygienic to have bare flesh against upholstery where others will have to sit. Bars and nightclubs enforce a ‘shirts must be worn’ policy for hygiene reasons, rather than taste. the plane incident shows that, once again, bad manners and selfish behaviour trump respect for others. I am surprised that the person involved has been portrayed as a victim.

A. R. CATER, Grays, Essex. I WouLd have no objection to sitting next to emily if she were wearing a bra top, especially if there was nothing to see out of the plane window. What worries me is that she may set a trend and it will become de rigueur for millennials of either sex to travel in a state of undress. Who would delight in sitting next to a male passenger who was returning from Benidorm, attired only in the doMInIC LaWson is right to criticise children who skipped school to go on a

DONNA SILBURN, London. I Was surprised at emily o’Connor’s reaction to what a fellow passenger shouted when their flight was delayed due to her attire. he yelled: ‘shut up, you pathetic woman. Just put a f*****g jacket on!’ I assumed she was offended by the term ‘pathetic’ or the use of a swear word. to my astonishment, she objected to the word ‘woman’. did she object to being described as an ‘independent woman’ and a ‘fearless young woman’ in her interview with the Mail? If the man had said ‘woman’ in a different tone, would emily have felt less shaken and intimidated?

Name and address supplied. eXPeCtInG to be able to wear a bra top on a flight is symptomatic of a gormless generation raised on social media and trash tV. With too much money and no work ethic, they are selfish and self-obsessed. If you are unable to differentiate between reasonable attire and underwear, then you are unfit to travel unaccompanied by an adult.
