OSCAR winner Sir Ben Kingsley has always denied insisting that people use his title. But producers demand underlings refer to him as ‘Sir Ben’ nevertheless, according to distinguished film editor Tariq Anwar.
‘At the start of production, like all the heads of department, I was given a memo sent to all cast and crew, that he was to be addressed as “Sir Ben Kingsley”,’ says Anwar, who worked with him on the 2005 film Mrs Harris. ‘It was disappointing to think those rumours about him were true.
‘There was much rolling of eyes behind his back on set but I’m sure that he was blithely unaware of that.’
