India Hicks and a stitch in time for mum’s 90th

PRINCESS DIANA’S bridesmaid India Hicks has written amusingly about how she had stockpiled all the birthday presents from her godfather, Prince Charles. And it seems she’s been doing the same with her mum’s old dresses.

The designer used the 90th birthday party of her mother, Lady Pamela Hicks, to give one of her society frocks an airing.

‘ It has not seen the light of day for 30 years,’ India declares. ‘We shook off the dust, removed the neck, adjusted the length and cinched the waist.’

Lady Pamela, daughter of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, recognised it immediately. ‘ She still has a beady eye,’ adds India.
