ROCKFIRE Resources shares rose yesterday after the miner said it found high-quality copper at a site it is thinking of buying in Australia.

Chief executive David Price said the samples from the Copper Dome project in central Queensland exceeded the company’s expectations.

Rockfire has an option to buy Copper Dome – which contains copper, gold and silver – and must decide by May 23.

Shares jumped more than 20pc before closing up 17.2pc, or 0.12p, at 0.85p.
