PLAYER RATINGS

DOMINIC KING AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

- SUBSTITUTES Barkley 6.5 (for Dier 17min), Rice 6 (for Alli 63), Hudson-Odoi 6.5 (for Sterling 70).

JORDAN PICKFORD 6.5 A couple of routine saves straight after the interval was as strenuous as it got for the Everton goalkeeper, who never looked like conceding.

KYLE WALKER 7 Motored up and down the right flank all evening. His surge in the first minute gave a statement of England’s intent and he was a constant threat. MICHAEL KEANE 7 Not an easy game to play in — it was a test of concentration rather than a battle against any direct threat — but the Everton man was always in control. HARRY MAGUIRE 7 Like his centre back colleague, the Leicester defender was never taken out of his comfort zone with England so in control of possession. Carried the ball out of defence well. BEN CHILWELL 6.5 The left back position will surely be his for a long time to come. He is not yet the finished article but the 22-year-old is getting better all the time. JORDAN HENDERSON 7 Plenty of scrutiny on him with Declan Rice now in the squad but he was calm and barely misplaced a pass. A simple and efficient display from the Liverpool captain. ERIC DIER 5 Could tell from the moment Tomas Soucek clattered into him that he was in trouble. His Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will be praying it is not a serious injury. DELE ALLI 6 One terrific pass to Sancho with the outside of his right foot. May find himself in hot water after TV cameras caught him making what appeared to be an offensive gesture. JADON SANCHO 6.5 Stadium hummed with anticipation every time he got the ball. Set up first goal but will wonder how he failed to get one of his own, missing from three yards in the second half. HARRY KANE 7.5 Weight of the ball he delivered in the build-up to the opening goal was perfect. Then he thrashed home the penalty that removed any doubt England would win. RAHEEM STERLING 9 Hat-trick hero and won a penalty. Left the field to a standing ovation. Now firmly in the groove for his country, it is a joy to watch him play at present. GARETH SOUTHGATE 7.5 His team are making these contests straightforward with their attractive play. They followed his instructions to the letter. ATTENDANCE 82,575
