Wigan win sees Lam escape the slaughter

-

WIGAN interim coach Adrian Lam admitted he felt shattered after the Super League champions ended a four-match losing run, a day after witnessing son Lachlan make his NRL debut for Sydney Roosters. The Warriors beat Salford 30-22 at the AJ Bell Stadium, where England stand-off George Williams scored a hat-trick of tries. ‘It’s been an emotional week,’ said Lam. ‘I’m exhausted.’ A hard-fought second win of the season, which leaves 2017 champions Leeds two points adrift at the foot of the table, may

yet help Lam keep the job for 2020. ‘I don’t really want to think about that because we haven’t been winning and I’ve had to make sure all my energy was put into that,’ he said. Danny Ward accused his London Broncos side of being too soft after they lost 28-24 to Hull. ‘We were a bit soft and didn’t do enough,’ he said. Hull are up to fifth and boss Lee Radford said: ‘We were challenged. It’s pleasing to come out the other end with a win.’
