OLE’S A CHEERLEADER FOR WOMEN
OLE Gunnar Solskjaer’s level of interest in the progress of Manchester United’s women’s team has been another eyecatching aspect of his time back at Old Trafford, comfortably surpassing anything Jose Mourinho mustered. Solskjaer, who was overheard discussing the women’s game on a recent coaching course, has good reason for keeping up. His wife, Silje (right), 44, was such a prodigious young player that the two of them wound up in the same youth training sessions, at the Norwegian Clausenengen club, where the United manager began his career. Solskjaer’s daughter Karna, 15, is also a talented prospect. Still continuing her education in Norway, she has spent time at a regional training centre near Manchester. ‘Ole knows the women’s game,’ women’s manager Casey Stoney told Sports Agenda. ‘He’s a big advocate.’
