Will Bodyguard bombing win Bafta for the top TV moment?

- By Susie Coen TV and Radio Reporter

IT was the moment that had eight million viewers on the edge of their seats.

Now the assassination of home secretary Julia Montague, played by Keeley Hawes in Bodyguard, has been nominated for a TV Bafta.

The bombing will go up against Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who travelling to 1950s America to ensure Rosa Parks stages her bus protest. Spy thriller Killing Eve, which saw Sandra Oh’s Eve stab nemesis Villanelle – played by Jodie Comer – is also shortlisted.

Other nominees for Virgin Media’s Must-See Moment, the only award voted for by viewers, are Peter Kay’s Car Share The Finale, and Gail Platt’s moving speech after the suicide of Aidan Connor in Coronation Street – which sparked a national conversation on mental health.

Netflix’s popular makeover series Queer Eye completes the line-up.

Blue Planet II scooped the award last year for the scene where a mother pilot whale grieves for her dead calf. The awards take place on Sunday, May 12. Bodyguard - starring Keeley Hawes, below Coronation Street - Gail Platt’s monologue after Aidan’s suicide Doctor Who - The Doctor visits US civil rights icon Rosa Parks Killing Eve - Villanelle stabbed Peter Kay’s Car Share - Finale Queer Eye - Tom’s makeover
